The Greatest Generation of Young Adults

The Greatest Generation of Young Adults
M. Russell Ballard
(Link to talk)

(remember I am using the "language of faith" meaning I am wording the counsel and teaching "as if" I already believe or am already doing it. All bold type is my insertion.)

  •  I am helping an entire generation of young adults to become some of the greatest missionaries in the history of the Church by helping them to be:
    • worthy
    • qualified
    • spiritually energized
    • serving with whole heart and soul
    • vibrant
    • thinking
    • passionate
    • and know how to listen to and respond to the whispering of the Holy Spirit as they make their way through daily trials and temptations.
  • Their testimonies are deep in their heart and soul and they are devoted to God because they:
    • search the scriptures regularly
    • kneel in prayer morning and night
    • fast and donate a fast offering each month
    • think deeply about the Savior and His atoning sacrifice when they prepare, bless, pass, or partake of the sacrament
    • attend all meetings and strive to keep the Sabbath day holy
    • are honest at home, school, church, and work
    • are mentally and spiritually clean. Nothing they view would embarrass them if seen by parent, leaders, or the Savior
    • are careful with their time - avoiding technology, games and social media that dull spiritual sensitivity
    • continually evaluate their lives for needed change and repentance
  • They are continually preparing for life and a family and are anxiously engaged in a good cause, and do many things of their own free will, and bring to pass much righteousness
  • They use skills learned on missions to bless the lives of others every day
  • Their focus is on serving others - not just school, work, or social activities
  • Their lives are balanced with spiritual experiences that remind and prepare them for continued, daily ministering to others
  • They visit with the lonely, sick, or discouraged as assigned and out of genuine love
  • They are not too busy to seek spiritual learning through a careful and prayerful study of the gospel assisted by seminary, institute or other religion classes. This helps them learn and grow and receive inspiration and guidance through the Holy Ghost (attend the four new courses offered)
  • They mingle with other young adults who lift and inspire them as they learn and grow spiritually and socialize together
  • They are anxiously engaged in righteous dating, courtship and marriage and do not fear forming a family. They marry the right person at the right time in the right place
  • They use the Atonement to fix anything that needs fixing
  • They know Heavenly Father and His Son know them best and love them most and that They understand their dashed hopes, challenges, and tragedies
  • They have faith in Christ, repent of sin, are baptized, receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, and endure to the end
  • They are strong and keep the commandments
  • They know all things they desire to do in righteousness will be theirs
  • They are preparing to marry, to serve, and to lead in the days ahead

    General Conference Challenge:
  • ·         Help the rising generation become the greatest generation of young adults in the history of the church!
