The Lord Is My Light

The Lord Is My Light

(remember I am using the "language of faith" meaning I am wording the counsel and teaching "as if" I already believe or am already doing it. All bold type is my insertion.)

  • I do not let the wickedness of the world distract me from reflecting and rejoicing in the redemption provided Jesus Christ.
  • His act of grace provides me peace.
  • I flourish, even in the terrible circumstances that surround me, because I humbly follow the Savior and am rooted in His love.
  • The Savior is my light and life.
  • Standing firm and true is easier because of my righteous family and Christ-centered, unified ward.
  • My family's role in God's plan brings me happiness, helps me learn correct principles in a loving atmosphere, prepares me for eternal life.
  • Our family's beautiful religious traditions are embedded in our hearts.
  • I am on my knees with my spouse faithfully, twice daily, to pray for our sons and daughters.
  • We faithfully study our scriptures, have fhe, priesthood blessings and observe the Sabbath day.
  • My children know they are loved and safe in our home.
  • My spouse and I are equal partners with different but complementary responsibilities. We make important decisions together after seeking guidance from the Lord.
  • Our goal is an eternal family.
  • Our family is the real thing; substantial; eternal. We watch over and care for and are loyal to each other.
  • We have deep cultural values and beliefs. Our traditions of sacrifice, gratitude, faith, and righteousness build our faith, so they are cherished and preserved; relished and protected.
  • My ward family is important to my progress, happiness, and personal effort to be more Christlike.
    • We are all converted to the Lord.
    • There is no contention or disputation among us because of the love of God which dwells in our hearts.
    • We deal justly with one another.
    • Our hearts are knit in unity and love
    • We esteem our brother as ourselves.
    • We are one; we are the Lord's people.
    • We are united in the culture, customs, and traditions of the gospel of Jesus Christ in every respect.
  • I am not critical of those with questions or concerns. I help them build their own faith and testimony and encourage them to patiently and humbly study, ponder, pray, live gospel principles, and counsel with appropriate leaders to resolve questions or concerns.
  • The church has never been stronger, yet I still reach out to everyone.
  • The Atonement resolves the most terrible burdens that can occur in this life and protects and blesses me beyond my ability to fully understand. He rescues me.
  • My protection lies in individual and family righteousness, Church ordinances, and following the Savior.  This is my refuge from the storm.
  • I experience joy, happiness, and peace in the light and salvation of Christ.
